Ontario Soccer Association – Four women’s teams eliminated from playoff contention after Matchweek 11

July 31, 2018

Vaughan, ON – Nine women’s teams remain with a chance at the playoffs with only 2-3 matches remaining in the 2018 regular season League1 schedule.

FC London had the week off in Matchweek 11, but are in pole position at the top of the women’s division, with a game in hand on most of their rivals. At the other end of the spectrum, North Mississauga Panthers kept slim hopes of the playoffs alive after a 1-0 defeat of Aurora FC – who are now eliminated from playoff contention along with West Ottawa, Darby and Toronto Azzurri Blizzard.

Oakville Blue Devils, Vaughan Azzurri and Woodbridge Strikers all had big wins over teams immediately below them in the table to further cement their playoff dreams.

On the men’s side, six weeks remain until playoff positions are claimed, but the leaders better watch out. Toronto FC III, FC London, Woodbridge Strikers and Sigma all had their toes held to the fire in Matchweek 11 with narrow wins or close brushes with defeat.
