Rugby Ontario – The 13 Jr. Blues teams will participate in various competitions including a tour to Ireland, Eastern Canadian Championship and the Cross-Border Series presented by the University of Guelph! (WHITBY, ON) – Rugby Ontario is extremely excited to announce the 2018 rosters for their age-grade programs. The Ontario Junior Blues program is a development tool for some of the province’s best young athletes to not only represent their province, but also have their names on the radar of National age-grade team selectors.
 
From Under-15 to Under-18, the Jr. Blues will be represented by 13 teams in various forms of international, national and intra-provincial competition.
 
“We are happy to announce the Jr. Blues rosters for the summer competition season,” explained Paul Connelly, Rugby Ontario’s High Performance Manager. “With a new format this year, these athletes are provided with some incredible opportunities to develop as rugby players and also have some unique experiences along the way!”

Intra-Provincial Competition at the University of Guelph
There will be an intra-provincial competition taking place at the University of Guelph from July 25-28, 2018. 
 
Teams that will be represented in this competition are: 

  • U18 AA and AAA Women
  • U17 AA Men
  • U16 Central, West and Southwest Women
  • U16 Central, West and Southwest Men

Cross-Border Series presented by the University of Guelph
Eagle Impact Rugby Academy will be travelling from the United States to take part in a large-scale series-based competition at the University of Guelph from July 25-28, 2018.
 
Teams that will be represented in this competition are:

  • U18 AAA Men
  • U17 AAA Men
  • U16 AAA Men
  • U15 Central and West Men

Eastern Canadian Championship in Halifax
In lieu of a Canadian Rugby Championship this year, junior teams will be competing in an Eastern Canadian Championship in Halifax, Nova Scotia from August 12-19, 2018. They will be competing with other Eastern provinces.
 
Teams that will be represented in this competition are:

  • U18 AA Women

  • U16 Central and West Men
  • U16 Central and West Men
  • U15 Central and West Men

Ireland Tour
Our AAA teams will have the unique opportunity to travel to Ireland on tour to play the Ulster Club Team, Ulster School Team and Leinster Provincial Team. This tour will run from August 9-19, 2018 and will give the athletes a unique tour experience and strong rugby competition.

ABOUT THE ONTARIO BLUES PROGRAM
The Ontario Blues program is the high performance representative program for male and female rugby players in Ontario. Rugby Ontario is represented at the provincial level by the Ontario Blues. The program includes representative teams from Under-15 to Senior in both Women’s and Men’s Fifteens and Under-18 Men’s and Women’s Sevens. Specifically, the program is designed to develop and showcase rugby players for Canadian representative national teams.
