PISE – (Victoria, BC – June 16, 2016) PISE (Pacific Institute for Sport Excellence) is excited to announce that CEO Robert Bettauer will be representing Canada in the World Senior Tennis Team Championships. The competition takes place in Helsinki, Finland from June 19-24.

Bettauer will be competing in the Von Cramm Cup which is the 60 + category. He will be joining a four-man team in a competition featuring the top senior tennis players in the world, in both men’s and women’s categories for all senior age classifications. The Von Cramm team will be seeded 6th going into the competition. This is Bettauer’s third World Senior Tennis Championship appearance in the past four years, and his first in the 60+ division. Bettauer recently won the provincial 60 + singles and doubles titles in Vancouver.

A former Davis Cup Player and Olympic Coach, Bettauer has an extensive history as a senior sports leader in Canada with previous roles as the founding President and CEO of the Canadian Sport Centre Ontario, and the Director of Tennis Development for Tennis Canada. He ran Tennis Canada’s first Western Canadian high performance training centre at UBC, and helped coach the Davis Cup team, which led to coaching Canada’s tennis team at the Olympic Games in Seoul and Barcelona. Bettauer has also provided television commentary and analysis on tennis for over 25 years at the Rogers Cup, Olympics, Davis Cup and Federation Cup. He will be joining the CBC commentary team as a tennis analyst at the upcoming Rio Olympic Games. He is currently the Chair of the Canadian Tennis Hall of Fame and a Board member of the Greater Victoria Sports Hall of Fame.
