Canadian Lacrosse Association – OTTAWA, ON – The Oshawa Civic Complex is slated to host the 2018 CLA Men’s Field Lacrosse National Championship this Labour Day long weekend. The tournament, which will feature 12 teams representing seven provinces, will run from from August 30 to September 2 in Oshawa, Ontario.

The event is being hosted by the Ontario Lacrosse Association, in conjunction with the Oshawa Blue Knights field lacrosse club, led by co-chairs and longtime lacrosse volunteers Terry Lloyd and John Doherty.

Last year’s crown was captured by B.C., who defeated Ontario 9-8 in overtime to end that province’s three year run atop the division. Alberta won the bronze medal thanks to a 23-6 victory over Manitoba.

Meanwhile, the U18 division will see five teams battle it out for the First Nations Trophy, including British Columbia, Ontario, Quebec, Saskatchewan and Prince Edward Island.

Ontario got the better of B.C. in the older age group last year, defeating them 17-13 to win their third consecutive national title. Alberta narrowly beat Saskatchewan 11-10 to claim their second bronze medal of the tournament.

This year’s event will mark the return of P.E.I. to the national championship stage. Their U15 team will compete for the first time since their debut in 2015, while their U18 squad will see action for the very first time.
