Nova Scotia targets female coaches with free workshops during National Coaches Week
Sport Nova Scotia – Halifax, NS – In an effort to attract more females to coaching in Nova Scotia, the provincial government, WomenActive Nova Scotia and Support4Sport have partnered together to offer free NCCP (National Coaching Certification Program) and CAAWS (Canadian Association for the Advancement of Women in Sport) workshops to female coaches during National Coaches week.
“It is recognized that there are far fewer females coaching sport in Nova Scotia than males, and the percentage of female coaches remains low in comparison to female participation in sport,” says Amy Walsh, Director of Sport Development with Sport Nova Scotia. “We need to change that.”
National Coaches Week takes place September 17th-24th. In total, there will be 18 different workshops across the province representing 12 different sports. For dates and registration information, follow this link:
