Gymnastics Canada – HALIFAX, NS (Jan 27, 2017) – Media are invited to attend the 2017 Elite Canada in Artistic Gymnastics competition running from Thursday, February 2 to Sunday, February 5, 2016 at the Canada Games Centre in Halifax, NS.

Hosted by Gymnastics Nova Scotia, the Halifax Alta Gymnastics Club, Taiso Gymnastics Training Centre, and Titan’s Gymnastics and Trampoline Club, Elite Canada brings together the top athletes from across Canada from the novice, junior, and senior categories in women’s artistic gymnastics, and junior and senior in men’s artistic gymnastics. Throughout the weekend there will be a total of 141 medals awarded, and an Elite Canada titleholder named in each category.

This event drew sold-out crowds last year when all eyes were on who would qualify for the 2016 Olympic Games in Rio. This year, the competition marks the start of qualifications for the 2017 FIG Artistic Gymnastics World Championships which are being held in Montreal, QC from October 2-8.

WHAT: 2017 Elite Canada Artistic Gymnastics Competition


  • All five members of the 2016 Canadian Olympic women’s artistic gymnastics team in attendance – Ellie Black & Isabela Onyshko will not compete but may be available for interviews;
  • 15 local Nova Scotia athletes;
  • 195 of Canada’s top gymnasts, 108 coaches, and 40 judges.

Friday, Feb 3 @ 19:00: Senior all-around competition for both men & women
Saturday, Feb 4 @ 17:30: Junior & Senior men’s apparatus finals
Saturday, Feb 4 @ 20:30: Athlete & Coach of the year awards, 2016 Olympic team salute
Sunday, Feb 5 @ 11:00: Junior and Senior women’s apparatus finals
