Ontario Soccer Association – Men’s Playoff Zone Spots Still Up For Grabs

Sigma and FC London duel for first, while four teams still duking it out for final playoff spot

September 18, 2018

Vaughan, ON – Everything is still in the balance coming down to the final matchweek of the 2018 League1 Ontario men’s division.

Sigma and London are the two teams with first place still within their grasp heading into their sixteenth and final match of the season, while four teams – Alliance, Unionville, Darby and Sanjaxx – could still qualify for or slide out of the base of the playoff zone.

Sigma were prevented from securing first place in the table after a 1-1 draw with Vaughan in Matchweek 17, while a rampant FC London side hammered Aurora and pulled themselves into striking distance of first position – if Sigma don’t get maximum points from their final match.

A Unionville and Sanjaxx stalemate and a Darby loss to Oakville left the base of the playoff zone very much in question too. In the Matchweek 17, Alliance United and Sanjaxx square off in the penultimate match of 2018, in what could determine the final playoff team.
