Sue Cragg Consulting – We are conducting a literature review (academic and grey) to provide an overview of current knowledge related to the design of policies and programs to increase the number and diversity of participants in sport, and to improve related health outcomes. For this purpose, sport is defined in broad terms to include unorganized and non-competitive forms of recreational sport activities.

This project is supported by the Federal-Provincial/Territorial Sport, Physical Activity and Recreation Committee.. The final product will be a knowledge synthesis report that includes an annotated biography. This report will inform policy development to address the barriers for Canadians to participle in sport, and to achieve shared objectives of increasing the number and diversity of participants. In addition to conducting a search for peer-reviewed literature in databases (e.g. PsychoINFO, MEDLINE) we are also seeking practitioner and/or academic input.

We are particularly interested in the topic as it relates to supporting under-represented groups including:

  • Women and girls
  • Indigenous Peoples
  • Individuals with a disability
  • Recent immigrants and new Canadians
  • Socio-economically disadvantaged Canadians
  • Canadians living in rural, remote and isolated regions
  • Older Adults
  • Members of the LBGTQ communities

REQUEST:

Please disseminate this request widely.
