Ontario Soccer Association – Fifth season features new competition format and several exciting new teams

May 1, 2018

Vaughan, ON – League1 Ontario kicked off a fifth season in style on the weekend, introducing several new teams to the men’s and women’s competitions and featuring some thrilling contests.

Exciting comebacks were the theme of the weekend in the men’s division.

Former Toronto FC player Rohan Ricketts featured prominently for Masters FA Saints, but star power wasn’t enough as opponents Aurora FC turned on the style. 2017 League1 finalists Woodbridge Strikers found a last gasp effort to draw new east-GTA team, Darby FC, while London TFC proved difficult opponents for their parent organization, Toronto FC III.

In the women’s division, it was a story of new teams making big impressions.

In just their first matches, Hamilton United Elite travelled away to Ottawa to pull out a win, while DeRo United FA orchestrated a debut win over 2015 League1 champions, Durham United FA.
