Hundreds of Canada’s Best Nordic Skiers Head to Canmore for Ski Nationals
Cross Country Ski —Largest Nordic ski festival in the country continues March 21-25—
CANMORE, Alta.—Fresh off completing the World Cup Finals, many of Canada’s best cross-country skiers will head to their home training centre for the remainder of the 2017 Ski Nationals that will continue in Canmore, Alta. the week of March 20.
The largest nordic festival in the country, members of Canada’s World Championship squad including Devon Kershaw (Sudbury, Ont.), Jesse Cockney (Canmore, Alta.), Graeme Killick (Fort McMurray, Alta.), along with Whitehorse skiers Knute Johnsgaard, Dahria Beatty and Emily Nishikawa will join more than 750 nordic skiers from all corners of the country for the week-long national championships.
It will be an action-packed week both on and off the snow. In addition to Canada’s best battling it out at all levels of the sport on the snow, there will be loads of activities including athlete and coach workshops, educational workshops, Fast and Female chats with many of Canada’s top nordic women along with a social gathering at Norquay Ski Resort.

(note start times for each race category are decided at the team captain’s meeting the night before race day)
March 21
9 a.m. – Medium Distance Classic Technique
March 22
9 a.m. – Open Category Sprints, Classic Technique
March 23
9 a.m. – Junior/Juvenile Boys and Girls Sprints, Classic Technique
March 25
8 a.m. – Long Distance Mass Start, Skate-Ski Technique.
