Ontario Soccer Association – Vaughan, ON – Woodbridge Strikers dispatched local rivals Vaughan Azzurri, while Durham United FA upset reigning champions FC London in the Forest City, to line up an exciting 2018 League1 Ontario Women’s Championship Final at the Ontario Soccer Centre (7601 Martin Grove Rd.) on September 1.

It took a second-half surge for the Strikers to find the crucial breakthrough against the Azzurri in the League1 Women’s Semi-Final #1, Calaigh Copland ultimately finding the pace and composure to finish off the opposition.

Durham United FA also showed class and composure in the League1 Women’s Semi-Final #2 after beating the 2016 and 2017 Champions, FC London, 2-1 at the German Canadian Club in London, ON – where the home side had not tasted defeat in well over a year.

In the Championship Final, Woodbridge will be looking for their first League1 title ever, while Durham United will be trying to replicate their title-winning 2015 season.

Elsewhere, in the League1 men’s division, Woodbridge, London and Oakville all had important wins at the top of the table, while Alliance FC and Darby FC had crucial results to solidify their positions at the base of the playoff zone of eight teams, with barely one month remaining in the regular season.
