Ringette Canada – London, Ontario – April 7, 2016 – The Gloucester Devils pulled off another two wins to remain undefeated in the National Ringette League division at the 2016 Canadian Ringette Championships being held in London this week. The Devils beat Edmonton Black Gold Rush 5-1 and defeated Atlantic Attack 7-4 today and go on to meet Ottawa Ice tomorrow morning, who currently sit with five wins and one loss. Round-robin play will finish up tomorrow, with the semi-finals happening tomorrow night.
 
Competition continued in the championship and consolation rounds in the U16 and U19 divisions today. At the end of today’s rounds, the top four teams in the championship round received a bye to the quarterfinals tomorrow and the 5^th to 12^th place played off for a spot in the quarterfinals. Teams in the consolation round went into quarterfinals today with the winners moving on to the semi-finals tomorrow.
 
In U16 division, Quebec remain undefeated, downing BVRA Angels (MB) 7-4 and finish in first place to get a bye to the quarterfinals tomorrow where they will meet Alberta. New Brunswick also picked up a bye and will meet Ontario in the quarterfinals. Mississauga and BVRA Angels (MB) also picked up a bye to the quarterfinal and will meet Rive Sud (QC) and London tomorrow.
 
In the U19 division, Guelph continued their winning streak claiming a 4-3 overtime against Zone 5 Grit (AB). This put Guelph in first place and gave them a bye to the quarterfinals tomorrow where they will meet BLL (QC). Ontario and Manitoba also got a bye and will meet Quebec and the Nepean Ravens in quarterfinals tomorrow. Having never made the championship round, Nova Scotia made history by not only playing in the championship round, but finishing in fourth place and receiving a bye to the quarterfinals where they will meet Alberta tomorrow.
 
Games are taking place at the Western Fair Sports Centre and Nichols Recreation Centre. The finals will be held at Western Fair. Competition continues all week and finals in all three divisions take place on Saturday, April 9^th(U16 at 10:30, U19 at 12:30 and NRL at 14:30). All-stars and the NRL Annual Awards will be announced at the closing award ceremony on Saturday night.

Ringette is a Canadian sport that was invented in 1963 in North Bay, Ontario by the late Sam Jacks.
