Rowing Canada Aviron - VICTORIA, B.C. – Friday, June 9, 2017 – Rowing Canada Aviron (RCA) is pleased to announce the launch of an exciting new fundraising campaign, directly supporting developing rowers. The RCA All for One campaign will work to ensure that Canadian Under-23 and Junior athletes are relieved of event-related costs as they prepare for their 2017 World Rowing Championships. All funds raised from the RCA All for One campaign will go directly to reducing any athlete fees.

“Investing in the future of Canadian rowing starts here,” said Terry Dillon, Chief Executive Officer, RCA. “Lessening any burdens on our athletes, whether through operational or financial support, will allow them to focus solely on their goal of standing on the podium.”

Selection to the Under-23 and Junior teams is an incredible honour for Canadian athletes, and is the result of dedicated hard work and sacrifice. RCA hopes to mobilize community support to ensure that athletes do not have to pay for the privilege of representing Canada on the international stage.

“Support from the rowing community will have an incredible impact on our athletes,” said Iain Brambell, High Performance Director, RCA. “Securing funding to cover the World Championship athlete fees will ensure our athletes are able to more fully focus on their training. RCA’s hope is to be able to ensure that athletes and their families are free from financial burden as they prepare to represent Canada on the world stage.”

RCA is continuing its commitment and significant support of the majority of costs associated with the World Championships. Brambell explains, “RCA’s High Performance Program will continue its additional and ongoing financial commitment to sending highly competitive crews to these Championships to provide these athletes with quality high performance experiences as they progress along RCA’s High Performance Athlete Pathway to Olympic podium success.”

The RCA All for One Campaign will see that funds directly reduce the costs for athletes. Donations can be made at www.fundrazr.com/RCAallforone either to the Under-23 team, Junior team or both. To show your support of the athletes and the campaign via social media, post #RCAAllForOne on your Facebook or Twitter.

Athletes will be named to the Junior team on June 12 and the Under-23 team on June 21. This year’s World Rowing Under-23 Championships is from July 19th to 23rd in Plovdiv, Bulgaria and the Junior Championships takes places in Trakai, Lithuania from August 2nd to 6th.
