Nova Scotia Golf Association – Seaview Golf & Country Club member Craig Ivey named the
2016 NSGA Volunteer of the Year

The NSGA is pleased to announce that Craig Ivey from the Seaview Golf and Country Club is our chosen 2016 NSGA Volunteer of the Year. Mr. Ivey has been a board member at the Seaview Golf and Country Club for 18 years. As a board member Craig served his club in such positions as House Chairman, Match Captain and on the Entertainment and Fundraising Committees.

He has chaired hundreds of tournaments hosted at the club. For the last two decades Craig has been involved in most club social events and fundraisers for both the Junior Program and the membership at large.

In 2012-13 Craig engineered a renovation of the Clubhouse where he contributed large volumes of his personal time. He undertook many of the required building improvements in a hands-on environment. In 2015 he oversaw the construction of a new driving range building complete with the demolition of the former aged structure.
For the past eleven years, Craig has served as match captain, a challenging mission at a club which typically hosts over three dozen competitive, corporate and charitable tournaments each year. It is a virtual certainty that he has shown himself to be the most dedicated match captain that Seaview has ever seen.

As well as the above-mentioned contributions, probably Mr. Ivey’s greatest asset to the club has been through his fundraising ability. For the past ten years, he has raised funds for the Seaview Junior Program to help defray the clubs operating expenses. These fund raising initiatives allow dozens of Seaview junior members the opportunity to travel and compete in Junior Championships across Nova Scotia. Seaview team members received both bags and clothing. For the last four to five years Seaview has consistently fielded one of the largest teams at the NSGA Junior Championship. His efforts have insured that Seaview will have a strong membership for years to come.

Craig will receive his Volunteer of the Year during the 2016 NSGA Annual General Meeting at the Glen Arbour Golf Club on Saturday, Oct 29. The awards ceremony is scheduled to begin at 12:00pm.

About the Volunteer of the Year

Each year more than 100 volunteers support the Nova Scotia Golf Association (NSGA) and member clubs across the province. The NSGA Provincial Volunteer of the Year award was created so that we could recognize the contributions made by volunteers.  This is one way that we can acknowledge those who have gone above and beyond to contribute to the growth and promotion of golf in Nova Scotia.

The NSGA Volunteer of the Year Award was designed to recognize and honour a NSGA and Club volunteer who has demonstrated outstanding support and assistance to grow the game.
