COLLINS TAKES BACK THE LEAD OF THE MCT MEN’S AMATEUR
Nova Scotia Golf Association – Conditions improved for the third round of the 2016 MCT Men’s Amateur at Clare Golf and Country Club. After poor weather conditions yesterday the competitors were treated to better weather and a course, poised for low scoring. Tomorrows final round should prove to be exciting, with a total of 7 competitors who are with in 5 strokes of the leader.
Home course favourite Rob Collins took back the lead today after firing a two under 69. Collins had a tidy round that included a total of 16 pars and two birdies. Collins has a one-stroke lead over Jordan Ells (Ashburn) and Stephane LeBlanc (Clare). Ells and LeBlanc each have a two-day total of 212 after they each recorded 69 during the third round.
Brett MacKinnon (Lingan) and Jody Swim (River Hills) currently sit tied for 4th, with a three- day total 214. While Morgan Penney (West Pubnico), Bruce Tomie (Northumberland) and Aaron Nickerson (River Hills) all sit tied for 6th with three round totals of 216.
Glenn Robinson, Ashburn, had the low score of the day, three under, 68. Robinson was four under on the front nine, with four birdies and five pars.
The NSGA will be selecting three spots plus one alternate position to represent Nova Scotia at the 2016 Canadian Men’s Amateur Championship on August 8-11, at the Royal Ottawa Golf Club and the Eagle Creek Golf Club in Gatineau, PQ.
The final begins tomorrow at 8:00am at the Clare Golf and Country Club.
