Sport Nova Scotia – (Halifax, September 24, 2018)- Sailor, Noah Adler is the Male Individual Athlete of the Month for August. The 13-year-old from Prospect won gold at the 2018 Canadian Optimist Championships in Squamish from August 19-22. This open regatta hosted 92 competitors from three countries. Noah’s success qualified him to represent Canada again next summer in the same competition hosted by Antigua and Barbuda.

Evie Hall is the Female Individual Athlete of the Month for August. The ten-year-old Mahone Bay resident topped the podium in every event she competed in at the 2018 North American Orienteering Championships in Whitehorse. The international competition hosted 50 athletes from 22 countries from August 17-24. Hall’s events included long distance, middle distance and sprint. She medaled in all three events in both the North American and Canadian competitions.

Claire Ellison is the Female Team of the Month for August. The 17-year-old Halifax rower was a member of the crew that placed sixth overall in the Junior Women’s Quad event at the 2018 World Rowing Junior Championships. The international event hosted over 750 competitors and was held in the Czech Republic from August 7-12.

The U16 Nova Scotia female provincial baseball team (white) is the Team of the Month for August. The athletes won silver at the 2018 16U Girls Invitational Championship from August 23-26 in Bedford. The national competition hosted 12 teams from across the country, and their podium performance made them the most successful female Nova Scotian squad to ever enter that tournament.

The Athlete of the Month program is administered by Sport Nova Scotia, whose members are eligible to nominate athletes for the awards. A membership committee selects the award recipients for five possible categories: Male Individual Athlete, Female Individual Athlete, Male Team Athlete, Female Team Athlete, and Team.
