VANCOUVER – Recognized for over 30-years of sport leadership, Canadian Sport Institute Pacific Chief Executive Officer Wendy Pattenden was elected as a B Member of the Canadian Olympic Committee (COC) on Saturday in Toronto.

A native of Victoria, BC, Pattenden was elected as part of the COC’s Annual Session alongside five other B members (Fred Blaney; David de Vlieger, Debra Gassewitz, Benoît Girardin, Sherry Robertson) and seven Board members (Therese Brisson, Chris Clark, Kevin Gilmore, Peter Lawless, Maureen Kempston-Darkes, Karen Rubin, Mark Tewksbury).

The COC Membership is constructed to represent the various stakeholder groups representing the Olympic Movement in Canada, including all Olympic athletes and coaches. Pattenden, who will serve a four-year term, was elected from a pool of Olympic Supporters who are business, sport or community leaders approved by the COC Board of Directors.

“It is a real honour and privilege to be elected to as a member of COC,” said Pattenden. “I look forward to working with some of the top sport executives in Canada to positively influence and enhance the current strategy and programming for Canada’s elite athletes and coaches.”
