Canadian Sport Institute Ontario – TORONTO (April 13, 2017) – Canadian Sport Institute Ontario (CSIO) and Canada Basketball are pleased to announce the hiring of Sport Scientist and IST Manager, Lauren Buschmann, who will be working with Women’s Basketball based out of the Canada Basketball offices in Toronto, ON.

Lauren holds a Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Movement Science from the University of Vermont and a Masters in Kinesiology from the University of British Columbia. While completing her Masters, Lauren was a research assistant in a cardiovascular physiology laboratory, where research focused on high performance athletes, including team sport and ultra-endurance athletes.

In her role, Lauren will be working with Canada Basketball and their women’s program in the areas of strength and conditioning and physiology. Lauren will be working with the Women’s National Team and development programs, while continuously helping to expand and further CSIO’s services. Lauren will support athletes, coaches and technical leaders by providing tools and metrics to monitor and assess progress. She will also be managing the Integrated Support Team (IST) of sport science and sport medicine practitioners working with women’s basketball, in order to achieve a holistic and integrated approach to athlete development.

Lauren Buschmann

Basketball Sport Scientist/IST Manager

Lauren completed her Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Movement Science at the University of Vermont. While completing her undergraduate degree at Vermont, Lauren was also a member of the varsity women’s basketball team. Lauren holds a Masters in Kinesiology from the University of British Columbia. Her graduate research focused on the utilization and efficacy of recovery strategies following strenuous exercise and their impact on subsequent athletic performance. While completing her Masters, Lauren was a research assistant in a cardiovascular physiology laboratory, where research focused on high performance athletes, including team sport and ultra-endurance athletes. Lauren will be working as a strength and conditioning specialist and sport scientist with Canada Basketball.
