Freestyle Canada  – Breckenridge, December 10, 2016 – Under stormy conditions, the Canadian Slopestyle contingent made their mark at this year’s first marquis slopestyle event, the Dew Tour. Team veterans Kaya Turski and Alex Beaulieu-Marchand led the way as the Canadians conquered the reformatted slopestyle competition. The contest was decided over a two-day span, which divided the traditional slopestyle course in both a rail final and a jump final.
 
Kaya dominated the field on Friday with smooth technical jumps and managed to bridge that momentum into Saturday’s rail Final. Kaya challenged the field with the introduction of a switch disaster 450 during her third run in the rail final. Kaya combined a jump score of 69.66 and a jib score of 77.33 for a total of 146.99, landing her in 3rd place.
 
‘’I’m  feeling really good, I’m feeling so amped, more excited than I’ve ever been for a third-place finish. I’ve just had a tricky couple years, and tricky preseason with limited training, having to take care of my body. I pushed through, kept it as solid and consistent as I could. I came into this event with the intention of solidifying an X-Games spot and showing the judges that I’m still around, still lurking around and working hard. I think that this is really going to help my cause. ‘’ Explained Kaya Turski, who is off to a great start to the season.
 
Whistler’s own Yuki Tsubota finished 6th after a strong placing in Friday’s jump final and consistent execution of tricks in the rail final. For the second consecutive year, Yuki has used Dew Tour to jumpstart her competitive season.
 
In the men’s field, Alex Beaulieu-Marchand stamped his vote of approval on the Snow Park Technologies build, as he dominated the technical Dew Tour rail garden with a strong mix of progressive tricks, such as a blind 270 on 450 out on the down flat rail. Alex combined a 66.99 in Friday’s jump final and an 87.00 in the rail final, placing third with a final score of 153.99.
 
‘’ We started with the jumps on Friday and it was pretty stormy. Despite challenging conditions, I’m still happy even though I didn’t land my tricks perfectly, those things happen. Being in 9^th position after the jump final, I really didn’t expect myself to land on the podium today. I came in with an attitude that the podium was almost out of reach. I anticipated executing my planned run, and didn’t foresee pushing things too hard.  On my second and third run, I tried a few new tricks that I hadn’t practiced, and managed to put the runs together. I’m really happy to have bettered my score on my second and third run. It’s a great start to the season.‘’  Stated Alex Beaulieu-Marchand.
 
Teammates Evan McEachran and Alex Bellemare finished 7th and 15^th respectively as they battled tough weather conditions.
