Canada Soccer has called a pool of 28 players to the National Futsal Team’s evaluation camp in Vaughan, Ontario. Coach Kyt Selaidopoulos will have charge of the three-day camp that runs 18-20 March in preparation for the upcoming 2016 CONCACAF Futsal Championship.

Coach Selaidopoulos will use the upcoming camp to select a final group of players for the international matches in May. Coach Selaidopoulos has had the chance to observe these players with the clubs, including recent provincial and league competitions on the road to the 2016 Futsal Canadian Championship.

“These are exciting times in the coming days and weeks on the road to the CONCACAF Futsal Championship,” said Selaidopoulos. “From what we have seen over the past few weeks, the talent we have in Canada is very encouraging and promising.”

Canada will actually learn their international road map this Wednesday 16 March through the Official Draw for the CONCACAF Futsal Championship. The draw will determine Canada’s opponents on the road to the FIFA Futsal World Cup Colombia 2016. CONCACAF’s Official Draw will be streamed live on CONCACAF.com starting at 12.30 local (14.30 ET / 11.30 PT) from the Hotel Barceló San José Palacio.

“We have selected a big pool of players, so it will be important to select profile players that believe in our program and are ready to commit to the task.”

Canada will face USA in a two-match play-in series on 4 and 5 May in San José, Costa Rica. The winner then advances to the eight-nation 2016 CONCACAF Futsal Championship, which runs 8-14 May at the BN Arena. The FIFA Futsal World Cup Colombia 2016 runs 10 September to 1 October.
