Tangerine in BC has formed a unique and exciting partnership with Basketball BC in promoting physical activity through our numerous basketball programs and, specifically, activating a national partnership with Steve Nash Youth Basketball. In just over a year we have worked together in presenting two Community Open Gyms with 300 youth experiencing clinics with trained clinicians, including Team Canada and/or NBA players – AT NO COST. Furthermore, they have provided assistance to coaches of the SNYB with coaches’ kits, supported many of Basketball BC activities and are a proud contributor to the BBC Hall of Fame Gala. Tangerine has also provided a bursary to allow coaches to continue their professional development. The first bursary will be announced in the early Fall.
Lawrie Johns, Executive Director of Basketball BC states: “These $1000scholarships are yet another example of the enthusiasm and contribution to the community that Tangerine gives. Our partners, Amanda Lee and Darren Furano at Tangerine noted that the applicants were amazing and they were “proud to support their athletic and academic careers. “We at Basketball BC are also proud of Matt and Jessica as well as of our Tangerine friends” continued Johns.
“We look forward to announcing the coach bursary in the Fall and continuing and expanding our partnership with Tangerine for many, many years,” concluded BBC’s Executive Director.
