Manitoba Badminton Association – The week of May 20 – 25, 2019 Canada’s top Junior and U23 athletes will descend on the Canada Games Sport for Life Centre (145 Pacific Avenue) to compete for the title of Top Player in Canada.

With over 300 athletes expected to attend this will be one of the largest tournaments Badminton Manitoba has hosted. We are very excited for this opportunity. With the world class facility at the Sport for Life Centre we are looking to make this the best national tournament of the next season. With twelve courts available for matches over the week plus plenty of space for spectators It will be an exciting tournament.

Badminton Manitoba last hosted this tournament in 2015 at the University of Winnipeg Duckworth Centre. Next year we are looking to improve our record and host a bigger and better tournament. It will also be a chance for our Manitoba athletes to compete nationally in front of a hometown audience.

Manitoba favorites that will be competing in the U23 category will be Thien Vo who is currently ranked number 1 in Manitoba and Number 2 at this year’s U23 and Junior Nationals, Arnish Patel who is a member of the 2017 Junior National Team and represented Canada at the 2017 Pan Am Junior Championships, and Felix Tessier who is a Bronze Medallist at a previous Junior National Championships. All three athletes reside in Winnipeg.
