 Position Title: Club Photographer

Location: 788 Beatty Street & National Soccer Development Centre (UBC)

Terms: Full-time, Permanent  

Reports to: Senior Manager, Content  

Vancouver Whitecaps FC is looking for a new team member to join our Marketing & Content
department in the position of Club Photographer.
 

The Club Photographer is responsible for overseeing high-level photography production and will be
responsible for working with the content team on the ideation, planning and execution of photoshoots and archival capture.

Specific Job Duties include, but are not limited to: 

  • Lead day-to-day photo administration and operations, including maintaining and evaluating network of freelance photographers that are used for gamedays throughout the first team, second team and L1BC levels
  • Photograph all home games, select road games and/or major travel events (i.e. Postseason, All-Star, etc), along with capturing photography from training sessions and events
  • Ideate, plan, and execute all studio, lifestyle, and media day shoots
  • Edit and provide efficient delivery of Matchday images in real-time to digital team
  • Manage the clubs photo archive through metadata and tagging
  • Follow brand guideline specifications and ensure consistency on quality during production
  • Build relationships with professional athletes and coaches
  • Act as a go-to resource for Creative Team, Content team, and other business members for finding, sourcing, and curating quality and appropriate imagery options for a variety of projects and initiatives

Qualifications/Experience:  

In addition to bringing a commitment to Vancouver Whitecaps FC vision and values, the successful candidate will have degrees of demonstrated skills and experience as follows:  

  • Must be legally authorized to work in Canada
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or extensive experience in sports photography.
  • A minimum of 3 years in professional photography experience, specializing in sports and entertainment
  • Experience with editorial photo shoots
  • Specialist in studio configurations with the use of strobe lights and other studio accessories
  • Professional photography skills, specializing in sports and entertainment (including portfolio)
  • Extensive knowledge of photo archiving and digital asset management systems
  • Fluency in Adobe Creative Suite
  • Competence in Adobe Premiere video editing software
  • Strong personal and communication skills including the ability to interact with both athletes and executives.
  • Must possess a service-oriented mentality
  • Fluency in Spanish is an asset
  • Experience in design and video production is an asset
  • Ability to work non-standard work week, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, holidays
