Gymnastics Canada – HALIFAX, NS (Feb. 1, 2016) – Media are invited to attend the Elite Canada 2016 artistic gymnastics competition running from Thursday, February 4 to Sunday, February 7, 2016 at the Canada Games Centre in Halifax, NS.

Hosted by Gymnastics Nova Scotia, the Halifax Alta Gymnastics Club, Taiso Gymnastics Training Centre, and Titan’s Gymnastics and Trampoline Club, Elite Canada brings together the top athletes from across Canada from the novice, junior, and senior categories in men’s and women’s artistic gymnastics. Throughout the weekend there will be a total of 108 medals awarded, and an Elite Canada titleholder named in each category.

Members of the 2015 World Championship team that competed in Glasgow, Scotland this past October will be celebrated at 2:30pm on Saturday, and will be signing autographs for fans following the announcement.

This is the first time this competition has ever been held in Nova Scotia, and is the first domestic national competition being held before the 2016 Summer Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro where Canada has already qualified a team in women’s artistic gymnastics.

  • A record breaking number of 20 local Nova Scotia athletes;
