League1 Ontario – Vaughan, ON – The League1 Ontario women’s division has bottle-necked with six teams at the top within striking distance of first place. 

Unionville Milliken SC, league leaders, dropped points to Aurora FC after a strike by former Canada U-20 player Victoria Pickett, while Durham United and North Mississauga gathered momentum in their one-sided 7-0 and 12-1 respective wins over Woodbridge Strikers and Darby FC.

Vaughan Azzurri also closed to within three points of first following a 2-0 result over fourth place side West Ottawa.

On the men’s side, the 2017 League1 Ontario All-Star match turned heads mid-week as the top players in League1 defeated the best of the Quebec PLSQ league following a 1-0 result courtesy of a strike by Sigma FC midfielder Giuliano Frano. 

In the men’s league action, Woodbridge Strikers extended their lead in the east division following a 4-0 win over Pro Stars, and losses from immediate challengers Vaughan Azzurri, North Toronto Nitros.

Oakville Blue Devils continue to stick tight on Sigma FC’s heels in the men’s west division, winning 2-0 over Vaughan Azzurri just as Sigma defeated North Toronto Nitros at University of Toronto’s Varsity Stadium.
