Speed Skating Canada – The ISU Short Track World Cup will be held November 4-6, 2016, at the Olympic Oval

Calgary, September 8, 2016 – Fans of action-packed and eventful racing from the Calgary area can now get their tickets for the ISU Short Track World Cup to be held November 4-6, 2016, at the Olympic Oval in Calgary. Tickets can be bought online at https://www.universe.com/events/isu-short-track-world-cup-november-4-6-2016-tickets-7C0J24.

The competition, back in Calgary for the first time since October 2012, will feature the best short track speed skaters in the world in this pre-Olympic season including potentially Canadian World Champions and Olympic medalists Charles Hamelin and Marianne St-Gelais. The final list of skaters qualified for the Canadian team will be announced following the Fall World Cup Selections, set to take place September 23-25.

Tickets are now available for each day of the competition November 4-6 (Friday, Saturday & Sunday) with competition schedule to be finalized.

Pricing is between $10 and $25 for 12 years old and older, and between $5 and $12.50 for kids of 2 to 12. Three day packages are also available for $50 (12 and older) or $25 (2 to 12). Infants of under 24 months (no seat) get in for free.

“It was here in Calgary that we beat the world record in the men’s relay (6:30.958) the last time we raced here in 2012, and the record has held up since then. So we are obviously looking forward to returning to this ice and to put our speed to the test, especially at the start of this pre-Olympic season, said four-time Olympic medalist Charles Hamelin. We’re happy to give this opportunity to rediscover our sport to fans in Calgary, a place where we’ve been only once over the last ten years at least. We therefore hope the community from the Calgary area will come and support us in large numbers!”

In the meantime, people interested in being a volunteer at this event can register online at www.oval.ucalgary.ca/volunteering.
