Diving Canada – Three more top-threes for Canadian divers at British Elite Junior National Championships

PLYMOUTH, England – Benjamin Tessier and Matt Cullen, both of Blainville, Que., were 1-2 on men’s platform and Kate Miller of Ottawa added a victory on women’s platform on Wednesday at the British Elite Junior National Championships in diving.

In boys 12-13 age group platform, Tessier collected a second win with 348.00 points. Cullen was second at 332.95 and Milo French of Britain scored 321.90.

‘’I scored a personal best in the prelims so I was a bit sour about not bettering that in the final,’’ said Tessier, also the one-metre winner on Tuesday. ‘’But Matt kept putting up big scores and that put a lot of pressure on me.’’

Cullen notched his first individual medal of the competition.

‘’I was really pleased to come through with some solid dives,’’ he said. ‘’It’s been a great experience to compete at this level.’’

In the girls 12-13 platform, Miller also notched her second win with 299.60. Chloe Johnson of Britain was second at 295.35 and her compatriot Tilly Brown third at 281.65. Jordane Legault of Blainville was fourth at 280.85.

“I was really pleased with this performance,’’ said Miller, the one-metre winner as well. ‘’The back two and half has been a tough dive for me this year and I was glad to do it successfully here.’’

Competition ends Thursday.
