Softball Canada – (Ottawa, ON) Softball Canada is pleased to announce the list of athletes who have been selected to represent Canada this summer, culminating with the 2016 WBSC Junior Men’s World Softball Championship from July 24 to 30 in Midland, Michigan. The final roster has been determined following a Selection Camp held in Kitchener, ON this past weekend.

“We are very pleased to announce the Team Canada roster for the Junior Men’s World Softball Championship” stated Mike Branchaud, Softball Canada’s Manager of National Teams and Canadian Championships. “The athletes worked extremely hard over the winter and made the decisions very difficult for the coaching staff.”

The Canadian Junior Men’s National Team will assemble in Kitchener on July 13th and will compete in the Cephas Roth Memorial Tournament July 14-17 in Tavistock, ON before heading to Midland for the World Championship.

Team Canada finished seventh at the previous Junior Men’s World Championship held in Whitehorse in 2014. Argentina won the Gold medal, with New Zealand taking Silver and Japan earning Bronze.

“The coaching staff has been working hard with our athletes since the identification camps last year” added Branchaud. “We have noticed great improvements in the fitness level, pitching, hitting and other elements of the game that will put us in a great position to succeed.”
