Canadian Sport Institute Pacific – Early bird pricing available until April 20 for Sport Performance Coaching Certificate stream

VICTORIA – The Canadian Sport Institute Pacific has launched registration for the 2017 International Coaching School, an annual event with educational opportunities for high performance coaches.

The International Coaching School is set to take place from May 27 to June 3 at the Canadian Sport Institute Pacific’s Victoria campus, located at the Pacific Institute for Sport Excellence (PISE). Courses and sessions will be facilitated by professionals with coaching, managerial, and training backgrounds at local, provincial, national, and international levels.

The International Coaching School provides coaches with two streams to become world-class leaders: the Sport Performance Coaching Certificate and the High Performance Coach Advance.

The Sport Performance Coaching Certificate stream offers coaches enhanced training in the NCCP Competition-Development modules in an interactive multi-sport setting. Coaches will have the opportunity to complete up to eight NCCP modules, as well as earn the Sport Performance Coaching Certificate from the Canadian Sport Institute Pacific, in only one week.

Facilitators for the Sport Performance Coaching Certificate include those from the Canadian Sport Institute Pacific, the Canadian Olympic Committee, the Coaching Association of Canada, Douglas College, One Smart World, Own The Podium, Royal Roads University and the University of British Columbia.

“This is a great opportunity for coaches working with National and Provincial Sport Organizations to progress their NCCP development in a unique multi-sport environment,” said Canadian Sport Institute Pacific Coaching & Systems Development Lead David Hill. “The International Coaching School allows coaches to complete these modules while working with leading sport experts.”

The High Performance Coach Advance is geared toward Varsity, Provincial, National, and Advanced Coaching Diploma (NCI) alumni coaches working with athletes in the ‘Train to Train’ through to the ‘Train to Win’ stages of the Long-Term Athlete Development (LTAD) pathway.

This year’s theme is Pathways to Enhanced Coaching and will explore coaching pathways and transition that help coaches better prepare their athletes for high performance sport. The High Performance Coach Advance is a critical professional tool for coaches who wish to better understand the support mechanisms that can lead to better quality coaching.

“We are very excited to help coaches better understand their coaching roles. Coaches experience many transitions throughout their careers and by acknowledging these transitions, we will help them to create a game plan for both professional success and greater health and wellness,” explained Hill. “Confident and healthy coaches will have a positive impact on their athletes performance and I know that this year’s advance will help coaches to achieve this outcome”

Registration for the International Coaching School is now open at www.csipacific.ca. Coaches who register by April 20 can take advance of early bird pricing with 15% off modules in the Sport Performance Coaching Certificate.
