Canada Basketball – TORONTO, ON (June 14, 2017) – Canada Basketball announced today the appointment of Matthew Walker to the position of Communications Manager.  

“I am excited to welcome Matthew to Canada Basketball,” said Bryan Crawford, Senior Director, Operations. “As Canada Basketball continues to grow, we look forward to his expertise and experience providing service to the media and implementing our communications strategy.”

The Ancaster, Ont. native joins Canada Basketball from Ontario University Athletics (OUA), where he was responsible for league communications and media relations, web strategy and execution, as well as social media.

Prior to joining the OUA in 2014, Walker previously worked on the assignment desk at both Rogers Sportsnet and theScore Television Network. 

Walker holds a B.A., Media, Information and Technoculture and a M.A., Journalism, both from the University of Western Ontario.

His appointment comes on the heels of an exciting week for Canada Basketball – a second-place finish at the FIBA U16 Women’s Americas Championship and the addition of 3×3 to the Olympic basketball program starting with the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.

Walker will drive all communications for the organization, including media relations and digital communications. As of Monday, June 19th he will be available at mwalker@basketball.ca
