Racquetball Canada – Winnipeg, March 26, 2016 – Frédérique Lambert of Montréal has advanced to the gold medal match in women’s singles at the Pan Am Championships being played in San Luis Potosi, Mexico.  
 
Lambert defeated Anna Gabriela Martinez of Guatemala to move onto the final. Martinez gave Lambert a great match but the Canadian finished things off in the tie-breaker with scores of 15-7, 10-15 and 11-7.  
 
Lambert will face Paolo Longoria of Mexico in Saturday’s final. Longoria is the top ranked female athlete in the world, but Lambert will draw on her Ladies Pro Racquetball Tour win over Longoria for the final. 
 
Pedro Castro of Brossard and Tim Landeryou of Calgary were just short of advancing to the men’s doubles gold medal match but lost to Alejandro Landa and Javier Moreno of Mexico in the semifinal.  
 
The Mexican team took the first game 15-11 but Canada dug in and won the second game 15-14. Castro and Landeryou were up at the beginning of the tiebreaker, but the Mexican’s levelled the score at then went on to win the tie-breaker 11-4.
 
Frédérique Lambert and Jennifer Saunders also lost their semifinal match to Mexico.  They faced the reigning World Championship and Pan Am Games gold medal team of Paola Longoria and Samantha Salas and lost in two games, 15-5, 15-8.
