Softball Ontario – What is Softball Day in Canada?
Athletes nationally picked up bats, balls and gloves, and swung for the fences and the Olympic Games from home backyard pitches, neighbourhood clubhouses, school and community fields and parks, universities and leagues around the world as ‘Softball Day in Canada’ spanned the nation from Charlottetown to Whitehorse.

Softball Players nation wide, of all ages, genders, backgrounds, skills levels, and cultures joined in social, sporting and community celebrations and promoted World Softball Day online and on the field.

The creation of World Softball Day itself by the world governing body was inspired by the 13 June 1991 announcement by the International Olympic Committee (IOC) that women’s softball would debut at the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, USA. World Softball Day also pays tribute to Olympic Day, which is celebrated annually on 23 June.  In 2017, ParticipACTION 150 Playlist is supporting our celebrations!

How can you celebrate Softball Day in Canada?
On June 13th, Softball Ontario and Softball Canada would like to have as many Canadians from 4 to 84 play softball or be exposed to our great sport!

Softball events can be registered here on the ParticipACTION 150 Play List website.  In order to receive free giveaways including water bottles, frisbees, and bags, as well as to raise awareness of the event/school/association by having our event posted publicly on the website.

If a school, local softball association, a team or individuals also registers an event with us on June 13th, they will be able to receive free wristbands to give out along with the items they receive from ParticipACTION.

If local softball associations would like to register a Learn to Play event, or ‘Try Softball’ day at any point, they can follow the same steps to register on, before, or even after June 13th.  Though, if possible, we would like all wristbands to be handed out on June 13th for Softball Day in Canada.

Once you have registered your event, contact us at Softball Ontario to let us know how many ParticipACTION/Softball Canada wrist bands you need to help make your event a successful one!

There are only 750 wrist bands available- get them while supplies last!  They will be issued on a first come, first served basis!
