Golf Québec and the Fondation de l’athlète d’excellence present the 3rd edition of their Bursary Program; distributing $73,000 in Bursaries for Rising Golf Stars
Fondation de l’athlète d’excellence du Québec – Laval-sur-le-Lac, October 3rd, 2016 – Golf Québec president Marcel Paul Raymond and Fondation de l’athlète d’excellence du Québec (FAEQ) executive director Patricia Demers distributed a total of $73,000 in individual bursaries to 29 promising young golfers as part of the 3rd edition of the Golf Québec/FAEQ Bursary Program.
The program was born of the two organizations’ common desire to financially support and provide guidance to young student-athletes, all while raising awareness about the importance of pursuing and succeeding in academics alongside a career on the greens. Eleven generous donors have contributed to the project: Hason Steel, Claude Chagnon, Marc Dalpé, Fednav, F. Furst Enterprises LTD, Fondation des Gouverneurs de Québec, Fondation Roland Beaulieu, Groupe Park Avenue, William Molson, Peacock Family Foundation and Raymond Royer.
“Our bursary recipients are stand outs, both on the golf course and in the classroom. They work hard every day to reach the pinnacle in both their sport and their studies. This financial support provides them with the necessary framework so they can stay focused on achieving their academic and athletic goals”
said Marcel Paul Raymond, President of Golf Québec. “I would like to thank the Foundation and all of our generous donors for lending their support to make these young golfers’ dreams come true,” he added.
FAEQ President Mr. Claude Chagnon thanked all the donors for their support over the past three years, and highlighted their loyalty and generosity to the Foundation. “Our donors have understood that supporting student-athletes who are less well-known and less funded is paramount. This support enables these young athletes to fulfil their athletic dreams while ensuring their academic success. Now more than ever, our donors, Golf Québec and the Foundation are united to support the academic, athletic, and personal development of Quebec’s student-athletes,” concluded Mr. Chagnon.

About the Quebec Foundation for Athletic Excellence: UNITED for SUCCESS
The Foundation is unique thanks to its personal approach, diligent management, and influential role in the realm of sport and education. With a new five-year plan from 2015 to 2020, the Foundation’s primary goal is to increase by 35% the annual amount in bursary funds, and the annual number of bursary recipients. This year, 1,2 million dollars will be distributed to more than 425 students and student-athletes. The Foundation’s bursaries reward: academic excellence, encourage the balancing of high performance sport and academics, highlight leadership, recognize perseverance, and foster university recruitment. The FAEQ is moved to action by a genuine desire to unite with former bursary recipients and sponsors for the success of current bursary recipients, thereby making a difference in their academic, athletic, and/or personal development.
