Canadian ice dancers win bronze at U.S. International Classic
 
Figure Skating – SALT LAKE CITY – Alexandra Paul of Midland, Ont., and Mitchell Islam of Barrie, Ont., won the bronze medal in ice dancing with an impressive comeback on Saturday to conclude the U.S. International Figure Skating Classic. The competition is the second stop on the Challenger Series circuit.
 
Madison Hubbell and Zachary Donohue of the U.S. won the gold medal with 166.90 points. Kuna Muramoto and Chris Reed of Japan were second at 151.18.
 
Paul and Islam followed at 141.20 for their best international result since 2013. The 2014 Olympians were fifth after the short program.
 
Mackenzie Bent of Uxbridge, Ont., and Dmitre Razgulajevs of Ajax, Ont., took 11th spot.
In women’s competition, Satoko Miyahara of Japan won the gold, Mariah Bell of the U.S. was second and her compatriot Karen Chen was third.
 
Kim Decelles of Baie-Comeau, Que., was ninth.
 
On Friday night, Brittany Jones and Joshua Reagan of Toronto won the gold medal in pairs.
