Speed Skating Canada – Shanghai, China, November 23, 2017 – Canada will be represented by eight up-and-coming Short Track skaters at the Shanghai Trophy Invitational competition which will be held November 24-26 in Shanghai, China.

Alyson Charles of Montréal (Villeray-Saint-Michel-Parc-Extension borough), QC, Camille De Serres-Rainville of Montréal (Mercier–Hochelaga-Maisonneuve borough), Audrey Phaneuf of Saint-Hyacinthe, QC, and Courtney Sarault of Moncton, N.B., on the women’s side, and Cédrik Blais of Châteauguay, QC, Steven Dubois of Lachenaie, QC, Maxime Laoun of Montréal (Rosemont-La Petite-Patrie borough), QC, and Marc-Olivier Lemay of Montréal (Rivière-des-Prairies – Pointe-aux-Trembles borough), QC, on the men’s side, will be the Canadian skaters for this international competitions including prize money.

National Team coach Jon Cavar as well as NextGen coach Sébastien Cros will accompany the athletes.

In this international competition that will also include figure skating, short track athletes will take part in the 1000m and 1500m individual events, as well as a new mixed team event including two men and two women who will earn points in each event of the 444m and 777m distances as well as in a 2000m mixed relay.

The 1000m races are scheduled for Friday and the 1500m events on Saturday. Racing for the mixed team event will be held on Sunday.
