Racquetball Canada – May 24, Burlington, ON – The 2016 Canadian Racquetball Championships got off to a great start with highly competitive doubles matches in all age and skill categories.  The championships are being held in Burlington, ON and run until May 28.  

Jennifer Saunders of Winnipeg and Danielle Drury of Saskatoon have teamed up to defend their Canadian Open Women’s Doubles Championship title. They faced Valerie Fallu of Brossard, QC and Alexis Iwaasa of Lethbridge, AB in the first round who forced the defending champions to a tie-breaker game. Saunders and Drury were down in the tie-breaker, but came back to win it 11-9. 

New champions will be crowned in the Men’s Open Doubles Event this year and with a highly competitive pool of athletes. It will be interesting to see which team will emerge as the champions. 

In addition to the Open Events, Racquetball Canada’s Canadian Championships includes several skill and age divisions that provide a competitive opportunity for developing and recreational level and masters athletes.  

The Doubles Events will wrap up on Tuesday, May 24 and the Singles Events will get underway Wednesday, May 25.
