Freestyle Canada – A costly fall in New Zealand style – Vancouver, October 5, 2018– Slopestyle skier Dara Howell, from Huntsville, Ontario, will be sitting out the remainder of the 2018/19 season. A bad fall at the first Big Air World Cup in Cardrona, New Zealand last August resulted in a torn anterior cruciate knee ligament, for which she underwent surgery. “I made a small error of judgement during the competition, which resulted in this injury,” said the athlete. “I’ll be taking the next year to rehab and recover from the operation. My intent is to be back on the slopes as quickly as possible. I appreciate all the support I’ve received in the past few weeks, especially from my teammates and coaches.”

Howell finished last season with a gold-medal performance at the FIS Big Air World Cup in Quebec City. The slopestyle team returns to competition on November 4 in Modena, Italy for the second FIS Big Air World Cup.
