The Canadian Blind Sports Association (CBSA) is pleased to announce the six goalball players who have been nominated to represent Canada at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.

Paris 2024 Canadian Paralympic Team – Goalball – Women’s Team

  • Brieann Baldock – Edmonton, AB
  • Whitney Bogart – Marathon, ON
  • Amy Burk – Charlottetown, PEI
  • Meghan Mahon – Timmins, ON
  • Emma Reinke – St. Thomas, ON
  • Maryam Salehizadeh – Vancouver, BC

All six members of the team return from the 2022 World Championship Team and the 2023 IBSA World Championship Team, where they finished 4th at both events. The team also remains intact from their historic gold medal-winning performance in Santiago at the 2023 Parapan Am Games, which qualified the team for Paris.

“Representing Canada for my third Paralympic Games feels just as special as the first. Anytime I get to represent our country I know it is not just me out there on the court, but a nation standing behind me. Paris provides our team with an opportunity to show the world that our results in Tokyo do not define us. The program has worked incredibly hard over the last three years to pinpoint our strengths and define our areas for development, growing where we needed to. Our performance will now be the thing that speaks for our hard work and we look to be a competitive force. One of the things I am looking forward to the most is having fans in the seats again. After a 2020 Paralympics that could only be watched from home, I’m looking forward to feeling the electric energy spectators bring to the sport and to have family and friends from Canada be able to attend.” said Megan Mahon, National Team Athlete.

“I am very proud to be representing Canada at the Paris 2024 Paralympics in the capacity of Head Coach of the Canadian Women’s National Goalball team.  This will be my third Paralympics as a coach and my sixth Paralympics overall (Attended 3 as an athlete).  Representing your country in any capacity is so rewarding, but to be the Head Coach of a team that brings it every day with their commitment and dedication is truly an honor. This version of the team is strong both defensively and offensively, as well as bringing a wealth of experience. This combination is hard to find and is a testament to their hard work and never losing site of the end goal.” shared Trent Farebrother, WNT Head Coach.

This team has shown over the last two and a half years that they can perform at the highest level with continually improved finishes at international events. I have the highest confidence in this group of players and staff to challenge for the top of the podium in September.” said Adam Janssen, High Performance Director.

Further information such as the game schedule and dates will be shared on CBSA’s website and social media as soon as they are made available.
