Canadian Sport Institute Ontario – TORONTO (August 8, 2016) – Canadian Sport Institute Ontario (CSIO) is pleased to announce the hiring of Pierre McCourt as Director, Performance Services.

Pierre comes to CSIO with years of international experience in senior organizational roles, leading sport science and sport medicine teams in program and service delivery. Most recently Pierre held the position of Director of the National Sports Medicine Program of Qatar, and has previous experience working for Richmond Football Club in the Australian Football League, Athletics Australia, British Athletics, and the English Institute of Sport. Pierre’s technical expertise is as a Sports Physiotherapist with a Masters in Sports Physiotherapy from La Trobe University Melbourne (2000).  He has also just recently completed an Executive MBA from HEC Paris in Qatar (2016).

As the Director, Performance Services, Pierre will lead the Performance Services team, comprised of more than 30 skilled practitioners, in the delivery of world-class applied sport science & medicine support to athletes, coaches and partnered sports. This includes overseeing the programs, services and initiatives that provide the optimal daily training environment for Canada’s Olympic, Paralympic, and High Performance National and Provincial Team athletes based in Ontario.

Pierre will be a key part of CSIO’s Senior Management Team, working closely with the CEO and its other Directors in shaping CSIO’s strategic priorities and organizational initiatives. As the Director, Performance Services, Pierre will also lead the facilitation and fostering of relationships with new and existing partners including national & provincial sport organizations, funding partners, and the other sport institutes and centres that comprise the Canadian Olympic and Paralympic Sport Institute Network.

Pierre McCourt
Director, Performance Services

With over 19 years of professional experience, Pierre’s career has evolved from a technical role in sport physiotherapy, to becoming an expert in his field, and subsequently moving into administration and senior management. Pierre has held many roles in high performance sport including Sports Physiotherapist at two Olympic Games, the management of sport medicine and sport science units, and senior organizational roles in three Countries (Australia, UK, Qatar). Previous organizations that Pierre has worked with include – Richmond Football Club in the Australian Football League, Athletics Australia, British Athletics, the English Institute of Sport and prior to joining CSIO, Pierre’s most recent position was as the Director of the National Sports Medicine Program of Qatar. From an academic perspective Pierre has completed a Masters in Sports Physiotherapy from La Trobe University Melbourne (2000) and an Executive MBA from HEC Paris (2016). Throughout his career Pierre has also presented original material at clinical and coaching conferences plus co-authored peer reviewed publications.
