Racquetball Canada – Leamington, April 26, 2017 – The Racquetball Canada 2017 Canadian Junior Championships is set to begin in Leamington, Ontario. The event runs from April 26 to 29.

Fifty-seven male and female athletes from across Canada will compete in the annual event, which features singles and doubles events in several age categories from from ages eight to eighteen.  

The Canadian Junior Championships is a unique event which provides both a development and high performance opportunity for Canada’s young racquetball athletes. Results in the older age categories will determine spots on Canada’s team for the 2017 World Junior Racquetball Championships.  The event also provides the opportunity for novice athletes to compete in a national event and for Racquetball Canada to identify athletes with potential for international competition at an elite level.

Youth aged 8 to 8 from across Canada including Canada’s top junior racquetball athletes.

When:

Matches will run from 9:00 am until early evening, April 26 to 28.

Competition on April 29 will run until about 4:00 pm.

Why:

To determine Canada’s team for the 2017 Junior World Championships being played in November, 2017 in the U14, U16 and U18 age categories. The event also provides an important national development and talent identification opportunity.

The event is being hosted by the Leamington Junior Racquetball Association in conjunction with the Leamington Kinsmen Recreation Centre and is is open to the public free of charge.  

Media are welcome to drop in for photos and video footage during the tournament hours and at the Opening Ceremony and Awards Banquet. Please check in with Adrian Webb or Andrew Dick upon arriving at the venue.
