Canadian Fencing Federation – The 2018 Canadian Fencing National Championships are set to take place at Brock University this May long weekend, with competition starting Friday and running through to the end of the day Monday.

Well over 1,000 fencers, coaches and their families will take part in the four-day event which features athletes from 13 years of age through to their late 70’s. Some of Canada’s top National Team fencers will also be in attendance, preparing for the World Championships in July in China. Athletes will compete in different age categories in epee, foil and sabre.

In addition to fencing, participants will have the opportunity to take part in a variety of seminars and activities.  The Canadian Fencing Federation (CFF) will be hosting a CAAWS Women in Sport Lunch & Learn session on Sunday at noon titled, “Leading with Confidence.”  CAAWS Instructor Patricia Howes will be hosting this inspiring lunch hour session for women.

The CFF’s National Armourer, Antoine Gouin will host sessions on Saturday and Sunday on equipment repair for epee, foil and sabre.  The sessions are open to all athletes, coaches and parents.

CFF’s High Performance Director, Benjamin Manano will host information sessions on Fencing’s High-Performance Program on Saturday afternoon, while CFF’s Coach Developer Ildemaro Sanchez will host a reception for all coaches on Sunday afternoon during the finals.

The CFF’s Annual Awards & Recognition Gala will take place Saturday evening at Brock University. This special event is dedicated to acknowledging and celebrating Canadians who have made a significant impact, nationally and internationally, to the sport of fencing.

Finally, an NCCP training and theory course in core training and content specific training for Learning Facilitators will be staged following the CFF National Championships at Brock University from May 22-23, 2018.
