CCAA – Camosun College of the Pacific Western Athletic Association (PACWEST) has been awarded the 2018 CCAA Men’s Volleyball National Championship.

The bid has been approved by the Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association’s executive committee. The Championship will be held in Victoria, BC, March 7-10, 2018.

“The Camosun Chargers have been consistently one of the best varsity programs in the nation and you only have to look back to 2015, when they captured their first CCAA national gold medal,” said Ray Sarkis, CCAA Men’s Volleyball National Convenor.

“It is without a question a great opportunity for the CCAA Men’s Volleyball National Championship to head west to Victoria, BC, for the first time.”

The event will take place at the Pacific Institute for Sport Excellence (PISE), a proven world-class training centre, which serves as the home of the Chargers, Team Canada Rowing, Team Canada Women’s Rugby, and numerous high performance athletes on their quest for excellence.  The 80,000-square foot facility includes a double gym with international height ceiling for volleyball.

Since PISE opened in 2008, the Chargers have hosted three PACWEST Championships, and this March, Camosun will host the 2017 CCAA Women’s Volleyball National Championship. The unique opportunity to host consecutive Nationals will allow the College the chance to review and build upon their experience.

Since their inception to the PACWEST in 1994, the Chargers Athletics program have captured 14 medals at the CCAA National Championships, including four in volleyball. Nationally, the Chargers Men’s Volleyball program has reached CCAA Nationals nine times, returning home with three medals.

The 2017 CCAA Men’s Volleyball National Championship will be hosted by Fanshawe College in London, ON, March 8-11.
