Canadian Lacrosse Association – CALGARY, AB (July 13, 2016) – The stage is set for the 2016 CLA Female Box Lacrosse National Championships, which will take place at the Max Bell Arena in Calgary, Alta., from July 18 to 23.

For the second consecutive year, the city of Calgary will play host to this week-long event, which is slated welcome over 300 athletes, coaches and officials to the region.

A total of 10 all-star teams, representing the provinces of Alberta, British Columbia, Nova Scotia and Ontario, as well as the First Nations Lacrosse Association, will compete for gold. It’s a national-level competition featuring the best female box lacrosse players in Canada, so the action is sure to be good.

Participating Teams

Bantam:               Alberta, British Columbia, Ontario

Midget:                Alberta, British Columbia, Nova Scotia, Ontario

Senior:                                 Alberta, First Nations, Ontario

“When we hosted this event in Calgary last year, the competition was intense,” said tournament organizer Kevin Murray. “Each of the gold medal games was decided by a single goal, with two of the games needing overtime.”

The opening ceremonies are scheduled to begin at 6:00pm MDT on Monday, July 18, and will be followed by a matchup between the senior division’s Team Alberta and Team Ontario, a rematch of last year’s gold medal game.

A series of round robin games will be held throughout the week, culminating with medal matches on Saturday, July 23 starting at 10:00am MDT.

For those not able to attend in person, all medal games from the event will be available via pay-per-view webcast thanks to PlayFullScreen.com.
