We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated individual to join our organization in the role of Men’s Head Coach, CAST D Team. 

Reporting to the Men’s Head Coach, CAST and the Senior Vice-President, Domestic Sport, the Men’s Head Coach, CAST D Team will support ACA’s mission to increase podium performances by executing team performance strategies targeting both short-term and long-term athletic development and performance benchmarks.

Duties:

  • Lead a team of athletes to compete and achieve podium results at the
    NorAm, Europa Cup and World Junior Ski Championships.
  • Manage day to day operations of the athletes selected to the CAST
    Men’s D Team.
  • Work together with other groups (CAST and PTSO’s) to ensure seamless
    operations, maximize integration of the team with CAST when appropriate
    & enable fluid transitions of athletes & staff between groups.
  • Supervise & support all assigned team staff including
    Assistant Coach, Physiotherapists, Ski Service Technicians and Doctors. 
  • Work with CAST leadership, team & group to write and deliver
    annual plan and individual performance plans for all named members of the
    team. This includes:
    • Team and individual athlete KPI’s
    • Technical training & monitoring 
    • Tactical training & monitoring 
    • Physical training, rehabilitation & monitoring 
    • Psychological preparation & monitoring 
    • Equipment Management 
    • Team / group equipment 
  • Responsible for organizing:
    • Vehicles 
    • Athlete equipment 
    • Logistics (hotels / travel / race entries) 
    • Environmental Management 
  • Develop and support a Culture of Excellence.
  • Provide year-end reports for both the athletes involved in the
    program and the program itself.
  • Timely and accurate submission of expenses
  • Overall management of program budget

Working Conditions

  • Full Time position with constant travel required.
  • Significant time working outdoors in winter conditions. 
  • Requires lifting, walking and skiing. 
  • Significant overtime required during peak periods to be taken as time in lieu as scheduling permits. 

Employment Requirements

Qualifications: 

  • ACA-CSC Level 3 / PL certification minimum. 
  • Kinesiology / sports science degree or Level 4 coach / Coaching diploma preferable. 

Experience:

  • Demonstrated the ability to leading athletes creating a positive team culture.
  • Collaborative in approach, works well with others.
  • Experience coaching at Intercontinental and/or WC level. 
  • Demonstrated familiarity with the Canadian Alpine ski system. 
  • Minimum 3 years of working within and managing team environments. 
  • Proven track record of coaching in programs with strong athletic performances at the World Cup and/or Nor-Am Cup, European Cup and FIS development level. 
  • Fluent in the English language and the ability to communicate in French and/or German, is an asset. 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of boot-fitting and ski preparation is an asset.

Advanced ability working with MS office applications is required.
