Canada’s most trusted partner in advancing sport knowledge has added industry expertise and new talent to key roles within the organization

Ottawa – The Sport Information Resource Centre (SIRC) is proud to announce the appointment of two distinguished professionals to its Board of Directors, Elana Liberman and Bryan Heal, along with the addition of a new Communications and Marketing Specialist to its staff, Taylor Matthews.

Elana Liberman enriches the SIRC board with her extensive legal background and her Master of Laws from Dalhousie University, focusing on child protection and constitutional law. Elana’s expertise as an experienced conciliator and educator, combined with her role as Safe Sport Lead at Sport Nova Scotia, adds valuable insight to SIRC’s efforts in creating a safer, more inclusive sporting environment.

Bryan Heal brings a wealth of experience to SIRC, serving as the Social Impact Research Lead at Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment (MLSE). At MLSE, Bryan has been instrumental in spearheading initiatives such as the Change the Game research program for the MLSE Foundation, MLSE LaunchPad, and MLSE Community Engagement and Social Impact departments. His dedication to advancing access, engagement, equity, and positive outcomes for youth in sport aligns seamlessly with SIRC’s mission.

In addition to these appointments, SIRC is pleased to welcome Taylor Matthews as the new Communications and Marketing Specialist. Taylor’s background in collegiate sport, coupled with her previous roles at Ottawa Sport Council and Sport Law, positions her as a valuable asset to SIRC’s communication efforts.

“We are thrilled to welcome Elana, Bryan and Taylor to the SIRC team,” said CEO and President of SIRC, Debra Gassewitz. “Their diverse expertise and passion for sport will undoubtedly enhance our ability to provide valuable resources and support to the sport community. We look forward to the fresh perspectives and innovative ideas they will bring to our organization.”

SIRC has also announced that Jake Rondot has been elected as SIRC’s new Chair of the Board of Directors. Rondot has served as a member of Board of Directors since 2021 and is the Managing Director for Human Kinetics Publishers Canada

SIRC thanks Sherri Audet, previous Chair of the Board of Directors, for her long-standing support of sport in Canada and her many years of service to the organization. SIRC wishes her well in her next ventures.

These strategic appointments mark a significant milestone for SIRC as it continues its mission to be the first stop for knowledge in sport essentials for Canada.
