Swim Nova Scotia​ – Etobicoke, ON – Nicholas Bourbonniere of the Halifax Trojan Aquatic Club capped off the 2017 Speedo Eastern Championships with four more Nova Scotia 13-14 Provincial Records during the final day of competition.

Bourbonniere broke the 200m Butterfly record during preliminaries with a time of 2:13.78 and again during the consolation finals with a time of 2:12.80 and a twelfth-place finish.  He also broke the 200m Individual Medley record during preliminaries with a time of 2:14.63 and again during the finals with a time of 2:13.40 where he finished fourth.  This brings Bourbonniere’s Provincial Record count to eight over the four-day competition. He set records in the 13-14 men’s 400m Individual Medley, 200m Freestyle and the 400m Freestyle (during preliminaries and finals).

Other top swims of the day included a 14th place finish for teammate Madison Archer in the women’s 13-15 200m Individual Medley in a time of 2:28.86.  The Halifax Trojans were Nova Scotia’s top scoring team, finishing 20th amongst the field.

This long course competition served as an excellent racing and development opportunity for Youth and Junior competitors the same weekend as the Speedo Western Championships.  840 swimmers took place in the four-day event at the Etobicoke Olympium with 17 swimmers from across Nova Scotia.
