Strong Performances to Start the 2022 Canada Summer Games

St. Catharine’s, ON– Nova Scotia’s swimmers were off to a strong start today in the pool during the first day of competition at the 2022 Canada Games in St. Catharine’s, Ontario.

Top swims of the day today included 15-year-old Isobel McBride & Éadaoin McGrath in the women’s 1500m Freestyle, where they finished tenth and twelfth respectfully with times of 18:27.90 and 18:42.85.  Owen Nicholson finished 10th in the men’s 800m Freestyle with a time of 8:48.94 while teammate, Ethan Kershaw finished 18th with a time of 9:30.45.

On the relay side the women’s team placed 6th with a time of 9:01.98 in the 4x200m Freestyle Relay (Rachael Blackmore, Julie Nolan-McCarthy, Ava Nettleton, Ella Brocklehurst) while the men’s team placed 8th with a time of 8:30.32 in the same relay event (Oliver Dawood, Hasan Hosny, Keilen Bellis, Zachary Marques).

Twenty-five swimmers from across Nova Scotia have been selected to represent Team Nova Scotia at the 2022 Canada Summer Games this week.

The Nova Scotia swim team is comprised of 23 able bodied swimmers (11 male and 12 female), and four Canadian Special Olympians.
