Dr. George Dei, a Canadian educator and antiracism and equity advocate, said that inclusion “is not bringing people into what already exists; it is making a new space, a better space for everyone” (Dr. George Dei, p.4)

If you are making decisions about sport experiences, invite those who have been historically excluded from sport to define what true inclusion and accountability looks like for them. Once you have their suggestions, it’s time to act! Let’s think critically about what changes will be truly transformational in designing equitable sport opportunities for current and future generations of participants.

Trans Awareness Week

November 13 – 19 was Trans Awareness Week, a time to bring attention to issues that impact trans communities. Did you know that 81% of trans athletes have experienced or witnessed LGBTQ+phobia in sport? Here are some resources to help you build more inclusive sport for trans participants.

We support the full participation of trans people in sport, including trans women and girls. Everyone has a right to participate in sport that is safe and inclusive, and to participate in a way that affirms their defined gender identity.
