Alberta Soccer Association – The province’s highest level of amateur soccer – the Alberta Major Soccer League (AMSL) – will get underway this weekend, with 13 games taking place in both Calgary and Lethbridge.

“Alberta Soccer is excited to see the 26th Alberta Major Soccer League season kick-off this weekend all over Alberta. The AMSL continues to push players to reach their personal best – allowing teams to compete and win national championships,” said Richard Adams, Alberta Soccer Executive Director. “For the past four years, either a men’s or women’s team has used the AMSL as a springboard to winning the Canada Soccer National Championship and we expect to see that level of competitiveness again in 2017.”

As the most prominent adult provincial league in Canada, the AMSL is comprised of eight male and eight female teams from Edmonton, Calgary, Lethbridge, and Red Deer – with many of the teams featuring players who have competed at national and international levels.

Media is invited to attend and conduct interviews at all AMSL matches, and media and fans are encouraged to follow @AlbertaSoccer (and the individual teams) on social media for updates and results.
