Volleyball Canada – September 5, 2019 – Although Korea came out strong, Canada was able to come away with the 1-3 (25-19, 23-25, 20-25, 22-25) win today to kick off the FIVB Volleyball Girls’ U18 World Championship in Ismailia, Egypt.

“Korea was excellent in the first set, but our approach to the game did not change,” explained head coach Scott Koskie. “We made some adjustments and continued to follow our plan. At the end of each set we had a different player come up with a big play to help us get this win. We can now enjoy our day off tomorrow and prepare for Mexico (on Sept. 07).”

Katarina Pantovic (15 points), Emoni Bush (13 points) and Anna Smrek (11 points) reached double digits for Canada.

The 2019 edition of the FIVB Volleyball Girls’ U18 World Championship (September 5 to 14) features 20 teams representing all five continents. The pool stage of the competition takes place over the first five days of the tournament, followed by four days of knockout and classification matches.
